The Starlink Cable from the dish and the Ethernet Cable to the router both terminate at this power supply, with a separate power cable feeding it from your outlet.
This modular approach is a smart move. If a router fails, you replace the router. If you want to feed the connection into your own network equipment, the Ethernet handoff is right there at the power supply.
Router Mini: Small but Capable
The included Router Mini is a compact Wi-Fi 6, dual-band router with one latching Ethernet LAN port and one latching Ethernet WAN port. Starlink positions it as having excellent range and performance for its size, and it can mesh with the Starlink Gen 2 Router, Router 3, other Router Minis, and the Starlink Mini Kit. It is not compatible with Gen 1 routers or third party mesh systems.
For larger homes, Starlink recommends wired backhaul between mesh nodes using Cat5e or better cable for best performance. Power users may still prefer to drop the Starlink router into bypass and run their own equipment, which brings us to failover.
Installation: Simpler Than Ever
- Kickstand for portable use. The V5 ships with a removable kickstand for ground or table placement, perfect for testing your signal before committing to a permanent mount.
- Pipe Adapter install. Pull the release tab to remove the kickstand, slide the Pipe Adapter in until it clicks, route the cable either outside or through the pole, and tighten the securing bolts with the included hex key.
- App guided alignment. The Starlink App steps you through setup and tells you if the dish orientation needs adjustment. You physically rotate the V5 to match the alignment shown in the app, then lock it down.
For fixed home installs, Starlink offers the Home Mount accessory, a double-pivot arm that works on vertical, sloped, or flat surfaces like fascia boards and rooflines. It interfaces directly with the Pipe Adapter included in the V5 kit and comes with lag screws, routing clips, and sealant tape.
