Amazon has filed an FCC application for a 5,105-satellite LEO network that will use Globalstar spectrum to power next-generation iPhone satellite features, including Emergency SOS, Messages, and Find My. Satellite deployments are expected to begin in 2028, following Amazon’s planned acquisition of Globalstar in 2027. The move signals that satellite connectivity is on track to become a standard fallback layer inside every flagship smartphone.
