This 2.5" right-angle WiFi antenna has an RP-SMA/Male connector for use with routers/gateways that have RP-SMA WiFi connectors.

As all monopole antennas, works best connected directly to the ground-plane of the device main PCB or to the outside of a metal housing. However it still has very good performance (>50%) even without connecting to a ground-plane, making it the best all round small WiFi terminal antenna on the market.

In the un-grounded installation condition it also comes below the max peak gain requirements for most WiFi modules which are usually 2dBi, so it can comply with FCC regulations.

It not be necessary to buy these antennas since the mbr1400 cannot use 2.4 & 5 Ghz at the same time. And there are few who only have 5 Ghz devices. Even though 5 Ghz is much less crowded, it does not go as far as 2.4 Ghz. Also both the 2.4 Ghz antennas that come with mbr1400 are physically identical in every way to these 5 Ghz antenna, so if they are mixed up, it is impossible to identify which is which. We have not used our 5 Ghz antennas yet.
