This 18-inch cellular antenna is for RV and large truck users who prefer a through-roof antenna rather than a mirror or ladder antenna. It features many of the same design elements as the older version, but has an SMA/Male connector for use with newer routers, modems and amplifier kits. The antenna is permanently attached to the roof of your vehicle by drilling a hole for the included mounting rod and hardware. You then run the 13.5-foot RG-58 cable to the device you want to provide boosted signal to.

The Shorty Through-Roof Antenna provides a signal gain of up to 6.12 dB for many U.S. and Canada 3G/4G providers. At 18 inches tall, it is large enough to draw a better signal while being small enough to avoid catching on low-hanging branches or power lines. It is made of durable stainless steel and has a built-in ground plane so it can be mounted to a number of different surfaces. Use this vehicle roof antenna to help get a more reliable signal when you’re in fringe areas. Read 5GStore’s RV antenna reviews from verified buyers to learn more about how this product works.

Antenna Features:

  • Compatibility: 700-1900mhz networks, which are used by most 2G, 3G, and 4G providers in the USA and Canada (not suitable for T-Mobile or some Canadian providers). Confirm which frequency your provider is using and make sure this antenna supports it before purchasing! Contact us if you need any assistance.
  • Height: 18" tall
  • Cable: 13.5' of RG-58 cable hardwired to the antenna.
  • Ground Plane: The Shorty Antenna uses included radials as a built-in ground plane.
  • Weatherproof? Yes, this antenna is designed for exterior use.
  • Mounting Requirements: The Shorty RV antenna requires that you drill a hole in the top of your RV/bus/coach to install it. The included 5/8" x 7" all-thread mounting rod spans the distance between the RV's roof and insulation/headliner/interior panel and can be cut for various mounting depths or removed completely for flange mounting (requires additional 7/16-20 nut).
  • Portability: This antenna is designed to be permanently mounted through the roof of an RV and is not portable.

  • Model: 311119
  • Frequency range: 700-800 / 824-894 / 880-960 / 1850-1990 mhz

Between the antenna and the Sleek my MIFI works great. Very happy with the product and service.

I am very happy with the performance of the antenna.

Even after reading the prior reviews, I was skeptical first about the quality of the product, and more importantly of whether it could help my problem. Let me deal with the first concern first: the antenna is made by Wilson and I was extremely impressed with the build quality, the packaging, the instructions---all first rate. Installation was through the roof of my motorcoach. The National Weather Service is reporting a heat index of 104 here today, so I was dreading climbing on the roof and installing the antennas (I bought two as I have both a Sprint and a Verizon aircard) but it was straightforward; much easier than I anticipated. Took about 30 minutes for both antennas.

As to performance, I'm just amazed. I'm currently parked at Isla Blanca RV park at South Padre Island, Texas. I had been unable to get a Sprint connection at all and my Verizon would grudgingly give me poor and unreliable EVDO service. Now, with the antennas connected, I get four bars and -40db LTE reliably on the Verizon, and two bars -80db on the Sprint. The Sprint is EVDO and a bit flaky, but I couldn't get it at all before, even having tried taking the Cradelpoint 1200 router with the aircards up onto the roof (I was desperate!) so getting even mediocre Sprint speeds is a huge improvement.

I can't say enough about these. Highly recommended.

This item was not hard to install. The installation instructions were clear and concise. My only reason for not giving 5 stars is the antenna did not perform as well as I had hoped. As a full time RV'er I get into a lot of fringe area's, so my signal will often drop from 4G to 3G and lower. So far, the antenna has kept me from losing signal all together, but has done little to 'speed' the connection up. I'm now looking to 'amplify' the digital signal for better results.

This antenna is very well made, and works well when installed, but it is the installation that can be difficult, especially for one person. The reason for this is that there are nuts on both ends of the threaded rod that extends through the roof. These nuts allow for adjustments to be made to accomodate the thickness of your particular roof and attic space (my application is on a motorhome). Tightening these nuts by one person takes some ingenuity, as the one not being tightened will tend to move when the other one is turned. Other than that, I am happy with the antenna, and it has increased my signal strength substantially. I anticipate an even stronger, consistent signal once I connect the antenna to a signal booster, but the one I want isn't in the stores yet.

I use this antenna with a Verizon modem and the combination works well. It is installed on a motorcoach and the installation was quite simple. No issues with this product.
