The only way I knew these modems were not new is because they didn't come in the original packaging from Verizon. The units were visually clean with crisp mechanical movement between the USB attachment point and the body of the modem. Sim slots worked perfectly and both modems could access Verizon's self-service customer portal over the Verizon cellular network.

Our UML295 (replaces our UML290) works great and is same as new. We set it up with our computer and now use the UML295 in our Cradlepoint router. The UML295 uses the latestest Verizon XLTE AWS band which can be faster then LTE. We replaced our UML290 to take advantage of XLTE.
