The local DSL connection sort of works and we sort of get a cellular data service at our new home in rural New Mexico. The Balance 20X lets us put the two together to get usable Internet. Given the large number of features, I was concerned that the setup would be difficult and time consuming. It did take a bit of detective work to figure out that even the unit was brand new, the firmware was old and need updating. Once that was done, configuring Speed Fusion Cloud took just a few minutes. With the default settings the fused download bandwidth has not gone up much (if at all) but the connection latency is significantly lower. And most important of all, the upload speeds, which are terrible with DSL, are now comparable to my download speeds. This makes Zoom usable and working from home a reality.

I have no doubt I can squeeze better performance out of my two connections (Windstream DSL and Verizon Wireless). But since this is in reality a commercial grade unit it will mean digging into the documentation and getting schooled on router software. And while we are using a separate cell booster to improve our Verizon signal, at some point I may try an outside external antenna.

What I like most about the unit is its flexibility (we're on the waiting list for Starlink service) and that we can try different combinations of connections.

A business class router with great security features that is within the reach of home owners looking for a better solution than what is typically marketed towards general consumers.

Great replacement for my old Cradlepoint AER2100. I also prefer peplink licensing model over Cradlepoint.

These are great. I am ordering my 4th one today. Will in tech support really knows his stuff. I spoke with a lady in tech support and she was great too. Sorry I don't remember your name.

I learned to always update the firmware straight out of the box!

Honestly this Balance 20 X just WORKS! Admittedly, I'm not the sharpest tool in the workshed when it comes to Networking and all that goes along with that. But there is a wealth of knowledge that is searchable and the support crew at 5G Store are SECOND to NONE! I believe with this device the home system FINALLY SECURE.

I purchased this to replace a Surf Soho that I’ve used for my home router for the last year and a half. The Surf Soho was good but had begun showing reduced connectivity and throughput while I’ve been working from home along with lots of video streaming activity (mainly Disney+) on the home network. The more powerful processor and high throughput on the Balance 20X let me take full advantage of the 500 mb/s down and up FTTP internet connection. Also, I was able to order a SIM card and add a line on my cell plan with Consumer Cellular for $15/mo to take advantage of the built in LTE modem on the Balance 20X. While bandwidth drops to about 20 mb/s down and 5 mb/s up on the LTE, the failover from fiber to LTE is seamless and it does provide sufficient connectivity to allow me to continue working from home. (Other streaming activity does need to be restricted while operating on LTE so as to not burn through monthly cell plan data allotment as well diminished video quality while on LTE.)

While I've not received the cross-shipped unit yet, I have been surprised an delighted by the incredible customer-service from the 5G Store. It was just a few minutes after my original post, and Mr. Ginsberg contacted me. This morning they arranged a cross-shipment. The replacement unit is "in-the-mail." I've used them since the "3G Store" days, but have never engaged them directly for assistance. Very impressed. And I want to see PepLink succeed-- I stopped using "normal" consumer routers/access points due to unreliable performance... but hope that PepLink will evaluate how they present warranty options to customers.

Very frustrating experience with PepLink. I've been such a fan of the their products and the company, but about one week into the deployment of a 20X unit, it started warning "failed to write flash" when changes were applied. OK, so I gave PepLink tech support access for remote assistances. A few reboots and diagnostic reports, and then tell me to mail the troubled unit back to them for evaluation and then they'll send me an exchange. I certainly hope they ship the exchange unit for me to swap out before returning the one deployed. How disappointing... and the second PepLink device I've purchased with out-of-box issues. The last time the unit had a design flaw. I'm not sure the root of this issue yet, but really makes one wonder.
