Teltonika RutOS Adds Site Manager Feature

Teltonika Site Manager

Teltonika Networks just announced one of the more significant additions to its RutOS firmware platform in recent memory: Site Manager, a built-in centralized management interface that lets a RutOS router directly oversee and configure TAP series access points and TSW series managed switches on the same network. The feature debuts in RutOS 7.21 and was highlighted in Teltonika’s March 5, 2026 newsroom post alongside a broader look at recent firmware progress.

Here is what is new and why it matters for anyone running Teltonika hardware in the field.

What Is Site Manager?

Site Manager turns a compatible Teltonika router into a local controller for nearby TAP access points and TSW managed switches. Once enabled through the router’s WebUI, it automatically scans the network and discovers supported devices. Administrators can then pair each device directly from the router interface.

After pairing, Site Manager provides the ability to view device status, organize devices into groups by type, configure main settings, adjust network parameters including IP addressing and management VLANs, modify port settings on switches, reboot devices, and push firmware upgrades. The pairing process transitions devices through Unpaired, Pairing, Syncing, and Paired states, and a troubleshoot file download is available for any paired device.

One important note: once a device is paired with Site Manager, its standalone WebUI becomes unavailable. Control shifts entirely to the managing router. That is the right tradeoff for organized deployments, but it is worth understanding before you pair.

This is a meaningful step for anyone managing a small-to-medium Teltonika deployment who wants tighter local control without necessarily relying entirely on RMS (Teltonika’s cloud-based Remote Management System). Site Manager is an on-device, on-premises option that keeps management local.

Recent RutOS Highlights Worth Knowing

Site Manager is the headliner, but Teltonika has been shipping useful improvements steadily over the past several firmware versions. Here is a quick recap of the most practical ones.

RutOS 7.19

Custom Speedtest server URLs allow organizations to run throughput tests against internal endpoints rather than public servers, giving more relevant results for private network environments. Firewall rule cloning was added, so duplicating and tweaking NAT, traffic, and port forwarding rules now takes a single click.

All firewall rules gained a status and traffic counter display, making it faster to confirm whether a rule is active and handling traffic. SNMP SET support arrived for writable data sources, allowing authorized systems to push configuration changes rather than just read values. IPv6 support expanded across a wide range of VPN services including WireGuard, ZeroTier, OpenVPN, Stunnel, and several others. Event Juggler gained debounce protection to prevent automation loops from triggering repeatedly during rapid state changes. The API now supports HTTP Basic Authentication for simpler integrations.

RutOS 7.18

A dedicated Starlink status page was added under the WebUI, giving users a single place to monitor and manage Starlink satellite connections on compatible devices. The Mobile Status page was improved to display the primary band during carrier aggregation, plus connection uptime, MTU, and APN values. CSV export was added to the Mobile Usage and Mobile Signal pages for easier data extraction and analysis. IPv6 support came to IPsec configuration in both the WebUI and API. DLMS smart meter reading performance improved by reusing existing connections instead of reopening them for each query.

RutOS 7.17

Airplane Mode was introduced, allowing administrators to disable the modem without powering down the entire device. This is useful for testing, compliance scenarios, and planned downtime windows. Certificate Manager was consolidated to show all uploaded certificates and keys in one place.

Why This Matters for Your Deployment

The direction Teltonika is taking with RutOS is clear: more control on the device itself, more visibility in the WebUI, and better support for the modern protocol and connectivity landscape including IPv6, eSIM, Starlink, and industrial protocols.

Site Manager in particular signals that Teltonika understands many deployments are not fully cloud-managed. Having a router act as a local controller for its attached access points and switches reduces the number of separate management touchpoints and keeps everything accessible through one interface at the site level.

For MSPs and IT teams managing distributed Teltonika deployments, that is a real workflow improvement.

5Gstore Take

We carry a strong lineup of Teltonika routers, including the RUTX50, RUTM56, RUTX11, and others that support the latest RutOS versions. If you are already running Teltonika hardware and want to take advantage of Site Manager or the improvements across recent firmware, now is a good time to verify your devices are on a current release.

FAQ

What is Teltonika RutOS Site Manager?

Site Manager is a feature added in RutOS 7.21 that allows a Teltonika router to centrally manage, configure, and monitor TAP series access points and TSW series managed switches connected to the same network, all from within the router’s WebUI.

Which devices does Site Manager support?

Currently Site Manager supports TAP series access points and TSW series managed switches. Both device types can be paired, grouped, configured, rebooted, and upgraded from the managing router.

Does Site Manager replace RMS?

No. RMS (Remote Management System) is Teltonika’s cloud-based platform for managing large fleets of devices remotely. Site Manager is an on-device, local option for managing access points and switches at a single site from the router’s WebUI.

Should I update my Teltonika firmware?

Yes, staying current with RutOS is recommended. Recent versions have brought meaningful improvements including IPv6 expansion, better automation controls, firewall enhancements, and the new Site Manager feature. Always back up your configuration before performing a firmware update.

Is Site Manager available on all Teltonika routers?

Site Manager availability depends on the specific device model and firmware version. Devices running RutOS 7.21 or later on supported hardware should have access to the feature. Check Teltonika’s wiki or contact 5Gstore for device-specific compatibility.
