Verizon To Add LG V50 ThinQ 5G Phone

BARCELONA, Spain, Feb. 24, 2019 – Verizon today announced the LG V50 ThinQ 5G – LG’s first 5G smartphone – is coming to Verizon’s 5G Ultra Wideband network this summer. This is the third smartphone that will run on Verizon’s 5G Ultra Wideband network, joining the Motorola moto z3 with 5G moto mod and the Samsung Galaxy S10 5G, both coming in the first half of 2019 for consumers and business users.

“As we turn on our 5G Ultra Wideband network in more than 30 U.S. cities this year, we want to make sure our customers have a choice of 5G smartphones,” said Brian Higgins, Verizon vice president, wireless device and product marketing. “5G devices are only as good as the network they are on, and our 5G Ultra Wideband network will provide download speeds that are significantly faster than 4G and carry a massive amount of data for a large number of simultaneous users.”

LG’s V-series is a gateway to creativity, packing improved video, camera and display technology into a slim, powerful smartphone that’s perfect for content creators, entertainment connoisseurs and mobile professionals.

Verizon’s 5G Ultra Wideband network is the perfect complement to the V50 ThinQ 5G, allowing you to instantly stream entire seasons of your favorite show on its immersive 6.4-inch display. With Verizon 5G Ultra Wideband you can easily upload high-definition videos you shot on your summer vacation to your social channels or quickly email large presentations to clients before a sales call.

LG V50 ThinQ 5G will be available on Verizon this summer.

Verizon finally offered some details about its 5G launch this morning: it plans to deploy the next-gen wireless technology in 30 cities by the end of 2019. “It’s just gonna be a total different experience in speed and throughput than you have ever seen before,” Hans Vestberg, Verizon’s CEO, said during a meeting with investors this morning. Spokespeople for Verizon confirmed that the company is not yet identifying which cities the service will launch in.

5G Smartphone will be available in the first half of 2019

SAN FRANCISCO – Verizon CEO Hans Vestberg joined Samsung Mobile CEO DJ Koh on stage at Samsung Unpacked to announce that Verizon will be the first U.S. wireless provider to offer Samsung’s new 5G smartphone – the Galaxy S10 5G – in the first half of 2019 as its 5G Ultra Wideband NR network goes live.

“Building on our history of network firsts, Verizon is about to redefine the mobile experience when we become the first U.S. wireless provider to offer the Galaxy S10 5G on our 5G Ultra Wideband network,” said Vestberg. “We’re excited to see a new mobility ecosystem emerge around our 5G platform.”

The Galaxy S10 5G is the result of years of collaboration between the two companies. Verizon’s 5G Ultra Wideband network will provide download speeds that are significantly faster than 4G and carry a massive amount of data for a large number of simultaneous users.

The Galaxy S10 5G features the largest-ever S-series display (6.7” curved Cinematic Infinity Display) and Samsung’s 3D Depth Camera for 3D-image capturing for advanced augmented reality apps and super-fast charging speeds (25W). The Samsung Galaxy S10 5G, in Prismatic Silver and Verizon-exclusive Titan Gray, will be available in the first in the first half of 2019.

T-Mobile Add Cellular Plan to Verizon Phone (iOS 12)

Coming soon to an iPhone near you!

Starting with iOS 12 and the iPhone XS or iPhone XS Max, there is now the ability to add additional carrier data plans via “Add Cellular Plan” option under Settings.  This uses a technology called eSIM and has been available in the iPad Pro for some time.  It is pretty cool having a single device work with Verizon, AT&T and T-Mobile.

Once T-Mobile offers the ability to “Scan QR Code”, you will be able to add a 2nd line of service to your existing Verizon, AT&T or Sprint iPhone.

Nokia & T-Mobile Sign 3.5 billion 5G Deal

No.3 U.S. mobile carrier T-Mobile – which in April agreed to a merger with Sprint (S.N) to create a more formidable rival to U.S. telecom giants Verizon (VZ.N) and AT&T (T.N) – said the multiyear supply deal with Nokia will deliver the first nationwide 5G services.

Verizon Announces Houston, TX to get 5G

Samsung Electronics America’s years of research into millimeter wave appear to be paying off, as the infrastructure vendor has scored Houston as the second city in which Verizon has selected Samsung as its 5G equipment supplier.

Samsung announced in January that it was supplying Verizon with commercial 5G Fixed Wireless Access (FWA) network solutions in Sacramento, Calif. That leaves Los Angeles as the other market that Verizon has announced, but it didn’t disclose which vendor it’s using there.

For Verizon’s commercial rollout in Houston, Samsung will supply 5G end-to-end solutions, including 5G radio and 5G routers (both indoor and outdoor CPEs). In most cases, the indoor router will be sufficient, but it depends on the physical surroundings and structures, so the outdoor router is available as an option.
