RF attenuators are used to reduce the power level of the wireless signal in a repeater system by a certain amount (dB gain), with little or no reflection. They reduce the output signal with respect to the input and measure the power reduction in decibels (dB).
RF attenuators are used in wireless repeater systems in special circumstances when signal strength needs to be reduced in order to prevent tower or phone overload conditions.
Under typical circumstances you will not need to use RF attenuators in your wireless repeater system.
Connecting attenuator to amplifier: Typically the splitter is connected to the amplifier using the 2' LMR-400 coax extension but any length of LMR-400 cable may be used.
