I anxiously ordered this item as I am in the extreme outer regions of the 4g coverage area of Verizon's service in Columbus, OH. I am using a Pantech UML290 attached to a Nexaira BCII router. I don't like WiFi, so that is turned off for security reasons, and the router is simply attached to my ethernet switch. (Thru put has been as high as: 12mips/5.5mips!) The Nexaira software has a very nice signal strength indicator that I had hoped to use to assist in aiming the antenna. Now that the weather has broken, I climbed on the roof to point the antenna at the nearest Verizon tower for a better than one bar signal that I've gotten with the antenna in the office over the winter. ZERO increase in reception!!! Actually the signal indicator doesn't change if I unplug the external antenna entirely. I think that the adapter cable is not adequately connecting with the very shallow female port on the modem. YES, I know that there are two ports (1 for 4g and one for 3g). No difference in either port, on either service. The antenna may well be ok, but if it can't connect to the modem........I'd love to find an adapter cable from a different manufacturer, but there are no identifying marks on this one, only the HRbarcode #359921 sticker on the plastic bag. If anyone knows of a different one that will seat better, I'd probably be estatic!
