The product is somewhat a function of the support you get. 3G made the product more than expected. Except for a couple issues the product is terrific and as I said the support is excellent! The expectation that fell a little short is when using wifi as wan from my marina, I was hoping to use my phone hot spot or carrier modem stick as backup should wifi as wan from the marina were to fail. This would be important when using security cameras on the boat and Marina wifi fails. 3G gave me a manual work around but not able to do automatic. The other is that if Wifi as wan is 2.4 ghz wifi to devices on the boat will be 2.4. Therefore if Wifi as Wan is 5 ghz all devices connection to SOHO must be able to support 5 ghz. This is my understanding and not a big negative, but if I am incorrect, let me know.

5Gstore Comments: You are correct. This is because the Surf SOHO utilizes a single WiFi radio, meaning it uses the same antennas to both broadcast and receive WiFi. The same goes for the WiFi channel being used. When using WiFi as WAN, the router must either be using the same channel as the WiFi WAN source OR simply have its channel selection set to Auto.
Regarding the failover from WiFi WAN to another WiFi WAN source or a USB WAN source - you must set the Health Check on the router so that it knows when to fail over and when to fail back. We typically recommend the Ping method for this, which means the router will ping an address on the web to check Internet connectivity and once it fails so many times, it treats it as a failed connection.
