Peplink FAQ

Can one Peplink SIM Injector run two Peplink Max HD1 router?

Can one PoE injector power multiple Pepwave Access Points? Does PoE pass through a switch?

Each Pepwave Access Point requires its own dedicated PoE injector or connection to a PoE-enabled switch port. Standard network switches do not pass PoE power through their ports unless specifically designed as PoE switches. So, the answer is no; a single PoE injector cannot be shared across multiple APs.

Can Pepwave Access Points extend WiFi coverage using a MiFi or mobile modem like the TP-Link M7650?

Pepwave APs require a wired Ethernet connection to provide WiFi access, so they cannot directly extend WiFi from MiFi devices. However, when connected to a router such as the TP-Link M7650 or a Peplink 5G router with WiFi-as-WAN capability, Pepwave APs can be used to expand your wireless network coverage effectively.

Can WiFi-as-WAN connect to WiFi networks that require a login or splash page?

In most cases, yes. After your Peplink router connects to the WiFi network, you will see the login or splash page prompt when browsing on a connected device. However, some networks with advanced security setups may have compatibility issues, so results can vary depending on the specific hotspot configuration.

Does Peplink support Starlink satellite internet integration?

Yes, Peplink firmware version 8.4.0 and later includes native support for Starlink connections. This enables the Peplink router to detect and monitor Starlink status through WAN settings and control the satellite link via the InControl2 cloud platform, providing seamless integration for hybrid networks.

How does the Peplink BR1 Mini router operate in mobile environments?

The BR1 Mini is a compact cellular router designed for use in vehicles, boats, and remote locations. Simply insert a SIM card, and the router provides immediate internet access. By adding a failover license, you can configure the BR1 Mini to use an Ethernet-connected modem as the primary internet source, with the cellular connection acting as a backup, ensuring continuous connectivity.

What benefits does the Peplink PrimeCare subscription provide, and is it necessary?

PrimeCare is an optional subscription that covers hardware warranty, technical support, and access to advanced features like SpeedFusion VPN bonding and the InControl2 cloud management platform. While your Peplink router’s basic functions work without it, PrimeCare is recommended for businesses that require enhanced networking capabilities and proactive support.

When I use USB tethering with a Peplink Balance router, will my VoIP phone connected to the router’s Ethernet port have internet access?
