Important Notes for Users
- Password Handling Changes: While most customers will not be impacted, it is recommended to review the ALEOS 4.18 Password Changes Application Note available on The Source for full details.
- SNMP Users: Semtech advises transitioning to alternative OIDs, as deprecated OIDs will be removed in the next MIB file update.
- OpenVPN Users: Future ALEOS releases may deprecate 64-bit Blowfish encryption support. Customers should migrate legacy VPN setups to the Standard implementation for enhanced features and security.
- AAF Developer Studio: Not supported in ALEOS 4.16 and later. Contact sierrawireless.com/support for continued use options.
How to Update Your Devices
- ALMS/AMM/AM: Semtech recommends using AirLink Management Service (ALMS) or other supported remote management platforms for over-the-air updates. This method reduces downtime and truck-roll costs while ensuring devices are current.
- ACEmanager: Manual firmware updates are available through ACEmanager for those not utilizing ALMS.
This new firmware release addresses the critical concerns we reported in our previous update and represents an important step forward in security and performance for these routers. If you have questions or need assistance, please contact 5Gstore support or your Semtech representative.
