Verizon was first to 5G when they launched their “Home 5G” network earlier this year, but that network is not standards-based and is not considered true 5G. In 2019, however, Verizon will launch their standards-based network, and they have now shown off the hotspot that will be available to utilize the network: a portable hotspot by Inseego that utilizes Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 855 chip and Snapdragon X50 5G modem. A demonstration will be done in Hawaii at Qualcomm’s technology summit, where they’ll also be showing off the standards-based 5G network itself.
