This router features four embedded modems and you will need SIM cards with active service from a compatible provider to use them. The HD4 has standard 2FF SIM slots - if you plan to use a micro or nano SIM, you'll need a SIM adapter.

The Pepwave MAX HD4 is designed for commercial and enterprise users who want to combine numerous wired and wireless internet connections for faster speeds and more uptime. This load balancing/bonding router contains four embedded 3G/4G/LTE modems for use with most European cellular carriers. It also has two WAN ports for wired internet connections, a slot for a USB external modem and Wi-Fi as WAN capabilities. Set which connections are a priority or let the router intelligently manage them using load balancing for faster network speeds. This also gives you automatic failover capability, as the lower priority connections will turn on if an active one fails.

By not limiting the MAX HD4 to a particular provider or carrier, Pepwave allows users to add active cellular SIM cards, cable, DSL and other broadband from multiple providers. This is a big advantage if certain providers have poor coverage in certain areas – by using up to four connections, you can be covered more often. A built-in bandwidth usage monitor will track each connection and switch it off if you reach a data cap. Pepwave’s SpeedFusion VPN Bonding will increase bandwidth while also utilizing unbreakable VPN encryption for sensitive data or public usage. It’s easy for computers and devices to connect either with the Wi-Fi access point or by plugging into the eight-port Gigabit Ethernet switch.

Each industrial grade enterprise router is made to withstand tough conditions so you can use it in vehicles, ATMs, outdoor surveillance or construction sites. It has a rugged metal case, is certified for superior shock/vibration resistance and electromagnetic compatibility, includes surge protection and comes with a power supply terminal block and rack mount. And thanks to InControl2 cloud-based management, you can monitor connections and view reports from any internet-enabled device. Add connections or providers as needed to give you and your employees a better internet experience. All orders come with a year of free expert technical support and access to our extensive library of support documents and tip sheets.

5Gstore is a Peplink Certified Partner

Features:

  • Internet Connections Supported: 4 Embedded 3G/4G, 2 Wired WAN, 1 USB (view full compatibility chart), WiFi as WAN*
  • Networks Supported for Embedded Modems: 4G LTE (B1/2100, B3/1800, B7/2600, B8/900, B20/800), WCDMA/HSDPA/HSUPA/HSPA+/DC-HSPA+ (B1/2100, B2/1900, B5/850, B6/800, B8/900)
  • WiFi Standard: 802.11 B, G, N; 2.4GHz and 5.0GHz (concurrent)
  • WiFi Range: 300-400' through walls, much greater unobstructed (variable depending on interference from other electronics and physical interference such as walls and ceilings)
  • Ethernet ports: 8 GbE LAN + 2 GbE WAN
  • Power Supply: Type C (Euro) power adapter included. A converter may be necessary to power this router in some locations.
  • Size: 1.9" x 11.5" x 6.9"
  • Bonding: SpeedFusion VPN Bonding. NOTE: Many factors influence the real-world throughput you'll see from bonded connections, including latency, connection type, connection speeds, traffic type, and reliability on both sides of the SpeedFusion tunnel. Cellular users should note that bonded cellular connections suffer from "flow control" of TCP traffic at the carrier level, and 5Gstore cannot guarantee that bonding multiple cellular connections will result in faster speeds (however, the other benefits of SpeedFusion remain, such as unbreakable VPN, session persistence, and 100% up-time as long as you have 1 healthy WAN).
*Compatibility with all WiFi networks cannot be guaranteed. Networks requiring authentication on a "splash page" (e.g. Starbucks WiFi) in particular can be hit or miss. Also note that certain features available for other WAN connections may not be available via WAW, such as MAC Address Clone or IP Passthrough - refer to the full product manual if you plan to use WAW for more advanced routing.

Internet Load Balancing and Automatic Failover.
Arrange the connections to any priority you want. With the same priority connections will be load balanced (aka "link controller") and allow you to increase network speed. When a connection fails due to signal or coverage issues the lower priority connections automatically kick in, backing up your failed Internet connections and giving you reliable and high speed Internet access.

Dual Long Range Wi-Fi Radio Built-in.
The Pepwave MAX's Wi-Fi WAN can be used as your incoming connection by connecting to wireless networks from access points you have access to. Once you are within the Wi-Fi network coverage the MAX can automatically switch to the Wi-Fi. The second Wi-Fi radio is dedicated to your local Access Point, giving you the best Wi-Fi experience.

Bandwidth Usage Monitor for Avoiding Unexpected Usage Bills.
Most mobile connection has usage allowance which causes extra data transmitted over the allowance to incur expensive charges. Pepwave MAX bandwidth usage monitor will help you monitor your usage and automatically cut off the connection when the cap is reached. You can browse the Internet freely without the worry of paying extra.

Military Grade VPN Encryption.
The MAX is ideal for public safety and sensitive private communications. Our revolutionary VPN engine allows you to use all available Internet links to load balance and failover your traffic through 256-bit AES encrypted VPN tunnels. Since our VPN engine is designed from the ground up for multiple Internet connections you can be assured that you will be securely connected wherever you are.

Extreme Temperatures, Vibration, Voltage? No Problem.
The MAX is specifically designed for reliable operation no matter what your mobile environment throws at it. Its industrial grade components can withstand extreme conditions ranging from a hot summer trunk to a cold winter night. The Pepwave MAX also features surge protection, so the device-killing ignition is no longer an issue. The included rack mount, or the optional rugged mount, is perfect for mobile environments. Worried about your 3G cards coming loose? We also have a card protector bracket to make sure your various 3G/4G adapters will stay securely in their slots.

No Software, No Middleware, No Hassles.
The MAX has the unique ability to manage multiple Internet connections and security policies all from one device. You don't need expensive software packages or confusing connection managers to be installed on all of your computers. Simply setup your Internet connections and security policies and you are ready to go. With the MAX you will enjoy robust mobile communications without bringing any of your IT staff along for the ride.

Connectivity for Everyone.
The MAX keeps you connected and allows you to share the connection with other devices and computers. The MAX includes a built-in DHCP server, a Wi-Fi Access Point, and a 4-port Ethernet switch, allowing you to share seamless and secure connectivity with any nearby users.

Thanks so much for your help. Only 60 mins with the unit and all 4 cards are lit with 5 bars and it is working better than I could have hoped for. Getting between 15-35Mbps down on any of the cards. I wasted a year of my life screwing around with Mushroom. Getting between 15-35 down on any of the cards

Is this router plug and play as far as VPN and WiFi? Also, can the MAC address be cloned on the fly?

The Surf SOHO supports SpeedFusion, L2TP, and Open VPN. It also has Wi-Fi as WAN and standard Wi-Fi broadcast features. The router has a default SSID broadcasting and ready to use out of the box.

The MAC address can be manually changed for the physical WAN ports only on Peplink devices.
